The Green Crop Network is pleased to announce that GCN students can now apply for 3 new travel awards

Green Crop Network HQP Research Exchange Travel Award
(up to $5000)
Each year, students from across the GCN network will have an opportunity to visit other international laboratories. Each travel award has a maximum value of $5000. Applications will be evaluated based on the students’ records plus the potential contribution of the proposed exchange to the GCN’s objectives, the student’s training (research and career development) and to their GCN research projects specifically. Applications including matching funds will by highly encouraged, when available. Remaining funds will go towards additional HQP research opportunities. During their visits, GCN students should participate in research activities within the hosting laboratories, learn new research methods/techniques, and interact with researchers and other students. As a part of this, GCN students may also participate in various training opportunities, visit research facilities and attend scientific meetings which coincide with their research visits. Participation in these activities will be taken in consideration when evaluating exchange proposals. Following the exchange, students will be expected to submit a short written report summarizing the benefits of this experience to both their research and their overall training. These will be published on the GCN website. Recipients of these awards will be reimbursed following submission of full travel claims (including all supporting receipts) to the GCN network manager.

Green Crop Network: Climate Change Course Award (travel subsidy) (Up to $1000)
These travel subsidy aims to help defer a portion of the costs incurred by students who attend the GCN workshops for the Climate Change Course e.g. at the GCN AGM.

Green Crop Network Workshop/Conference Travel Award
(up to $700)
Each year, GCN students will be given financial support to attend workshops or AGMs of the Green Crop Network as well as other collaborating networks. (see below)
Applications will be evaluated based on the students’ records plus the potential contribution of the proposed activity to the GCN’s objectives, the student’s training (research and career development). Applications including matching funds will by highly encouraged, when available. Remaining funds will go towards additional travel opportunities.
Students can submit applications for workshops that would contribute to their research and career development. Travel award to AGMs or conferences will be granted to GCN members who are making oral or poster presentations to these conferences. Selection will be based on the merit of submitted abstracts, its suitability for the conference/workshop and quality of the applicant’s record. Applications including matching funds will by highly encouraged, when available. Remaining funds will go towards additional HQP opportunities.
