This workshop will precede the Plants and Soils: Montreal 2008 held on July 13th -16th 2008 meeting. This is the joint meeting of the Canadian Society of Agronomy (CSA), Northeastern Branch of the American society of agronomy-crop science society of America-soil science society of American (ASA-CSSA-SSSA) and the Canadian Society of Horticultural Science (CSHS). Topics
I. Current research trends in climate change
e.g. economic/ecological impact, breakthroughs in plant, soil and microbial research, plant-bacteria interactions, plant-insect interactions.
II. Current and developing research methodology and/or technology.

III. Professional Skills
- a. Entrepreneurship: Strategies and obstacles to securing funding:

Project management All participants upon arriving at the workshop will receive a brief case study of a project and be asked their thoughts of its positive and negative aspects as well as things that need to be improved to lead to the project to success. During the workshop it will serve as a starting point to discuss project management.
IV. Introduction to intellectual property and regulatory issues
Registration: After registering to attend the workshop, participants are expected to provide a brief summary (a few lines) of their interests and expertise. This will be used to help tailor the workshop.

Travel award available for GCN students
Selected GCN students (14) will receive specific financial support for their travel expenses (to a maximum of $700) to attend this 2-day workshop series.
Please note that this award can also be combined to cover expenses related to the Montreal 2008 Plants and Soils meeting if students are presenting oral presentations or posters at the latter.
